Funyaks (Kayaks)

This unmissable experience combines the exhilaration of a wilderness jet boat ride with a leisurely downstream float on our easy to use Funyaks. With a sumptuous lunch included, this trip is ideal for the whole family. If you only do one tour in Queenstown, this is it! The diversity and value of what's on offer in this full day of adventure is second to none.

Your Funyak journey begins with an exhilarating jet boat ride from Glenorchy up the Dart River deep into the heart of the world-renowned Mt Aspiring National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Experience exciting 360 degree spins along the way as you marvel at the untouched beauty of this location, inaccessible by other means. Learn about Pounamu and the long-standing history of the area.

After your jet boat ride, you will travel back down stream with our expert guides in our unique Funyaks (inflatable kayaks) steering your way through pristine waters as they flow from the Southern Alps to Lake Whakatipu. Explore channels and side-streams in this spectacular wilderness location and witness the native flora and fauna of the area.

Just when you think your Funyak journey is over, you will enjoy a packed lunch in the wilderness before heading home via 4 wheel drive coach to explore locations used in movies ‘Lord of the Rings’ and ‘The Hobbit’.

This action-packed full day of exploration gets you away from the hustle and bustle of Queenstown to experience the natural, untouched wilderness New Zealand is so famous for. With free transport and only a 45 minute, breathtaking drive from Queenstown, what are you waiting for?

Please note that due to weather and our ever-changing wilderness environment, every trip is different and we can't always guarantee you will visit the same locations. This includes inside the chasm. The vistas are stunning everywhere you look so rest-assured you will always experience the beauty of this untouched paradise!

Your expert guide will teach you everything you need to know to use your own Funyak, no prior experience necessary. However you must obey all instructions and if our guides feel like you are struggling, they may decide to attach your Funyak to their Funyak to navigate the more difficult parts of the river. The safety of our customers is of utmost importance to us.

Testimonials

Amazing day in stunning scenery! Super well organised operation with very friendly and fun staff. We were kitted out head to toe in warm dry clothing and wetsuits, so despite a slightly drizzly autumn day we never felt cold.
Highly recommended!! Thanks for an awesome day, guys

Thanks to the awesome team at Dart River Adventures for an awesome day, the staff were so fun, hilarious and professional and incredible with our kids, a special shout out thanks to our Funyak guide, who was so patient and engaging with our team, our kids loved him and said the whole day was more fun then visiting Disneyland.

Wow!! What a day and experience. Such a stunning place to explore. Staff were very friendly, helpful, funny and knowledgeable. Lunch was amazing. We did the jet boat and funyaks and could not recommend more. One of the people in our group was a bit nervous about the jet boat and the driver was so nice and always checking to make sure she was ok. Well worth it!
