Dart River Adventures is based in Glenorchy, a small township nestled into the Northern shores of Lake Whakatipu, and home to around 500 people. It is a short 45 minute drive from Queenstown, but as you will come to discover, getting here is all part of the unforgettable adventure!

Transport Service

Dart River Adventures offers a return private shuttle service from Queenstown to Glenorchy for guests embarking on the 2 hour Wilderness Jet or Funyaks experience.

Our custom built 4WD vehicles collect passengers from The Station building in Queenstown CBD. Enjoy sitting back and taking in sights on this incredible scenic drive, offering spectacular views across Lake Whakatipu to the surrounding alpine landscape. Along the journey, we will stop off at the iconic Bennetts Bluff lookout (time and weather conditions permitting) where you have the chance to take photographs.

Return transport is included on the morning departure of the 2 hour Wilderness Jet tour, and included in the price of the Funyaks trip. The journey from Queenstown to Glenorchy is 46km, and will take approximately 45 minutes each way.

Drive to Glenorchy

The lakeside drive to Glenorchy from Queenstown is recognised as one of the ten most scenic drives in the world.

As the road winds along the lakeside, you will enjoy an ever-changing vista, through native beech forest, scrub and farming outposts. Make a point of stopping off at the Bennetts Bluff lookout, this is one of the most photographed spots in New Zealand so even if you don't stop to take your own pictures, be mindful of others that are.

The travel time to Glenorchy is approximately 45 minutes from central Queenstown, however we recommend allowing a minimum of 1 hour so you can stop off and capture some of the stunning scenery you are sure to spot along the way.

As you admire the spectacular views, please be mindful of other road users. If you wish to take photographs, please pull over to the side of the road where it is safe to do so.
