Locals Day 2013
Dart River Jet locals’ day raises $2,717 for Glenorchy School
Generous locals have once again helped support a good cause taking to the river in droves for Dart River Jet’s locals’ day raising much needed funds for the Glenorchy School’s Enviro Project.
Pictured handing over the cheque for $2,717 to Glenorchy School Principal Esther Hamilton is Dart River Jet’s operations manager Callan Grimmer.
Speaking on behalf of the children Ms Hamilton said it was “an absolute honour” to be accepting the cheque for such a “significant amount” of money.
“We’re so grateful. We can’t thank Dart River Jet and the local community enough for helping raise the money.”
Mr Grimmer said it was “always an absolute pleasure” handing over a cheque each year to groups within the local Glenorchy community.
“Year-in, year-out we’re just blown away with people’s generosity at the locals’ day. It’s great.”
“Over the years we’ve raised thousands for local groups. It’s so important to give back to our community and we look forward to the day each year.”
“Our trip is regarded as one of New Zealand’s most sensational journeys and by coming and experiencing it first hand, locals have helped out a very good cause,” Mr Grimmer said.
Ms Hamilton said the funds would help kick start the school’s efforts to enhance the outdoor area and install a shaded sand pit for the younger children.
“The fundraising process is usually lengthy and so the funds will accelerate the work we want to do to provide a better environment for our children,” said Ms Hamilton
